Job Purpose:
The IT Manager coach will focus on the development of the IT function and how it impacts the operation of the college, both in resource allocation and the development of a standalone IT operation.

The IT Manager coach will also assist the Provider Head and other provider staff in the execution of the College Improvement Plan in line with the program targets and budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To work with the existing IT Manager and his staff to improve the IT infrastructure of the college including information systems, networks and telecommunications
  2. To be able to affect change outcomes through influencing and gaining buy-in from incumbent IT staff
  3. To work with incumbent manager to ensure there is accountability for systems availability and capacity planning
  4. To establish where necessary systems/processes and policies for the management of hardware, software and MIS system roll outs across network for upgrades and enhancements
  5. Is knowledgeable about the selection, implementation and operation of IT systems, and about the training of staff in the operation of such systems.
  6. Guides and facilitates the application of training which supports/targets
  • Identification and training of departmental heads and other senior staff members who will be budget holders, and provide them with sufficient finance training to allow them to discharge their budget responsibilities.
  • Develop senior IT staff to provide them with the capability to develop and mentor their own team.
  • Contribute towards the development of strategic decision making processes, and the identification and compilation of financial information as part of a formal Strategic Plan.
  • Develops senior IT staff into a department who support decision making and planning processes across the institution.
  1. Supports the identification and implementation of service standards for the IT department, and the interactions with other departments and with external customers.
  2. Provides advice and guidance in the development of formal procedures and processes for all IT systems operated within the College.
  3. Accepts other duties as assigned by the Provider Head.


Qualification Requirements:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution or a level 4 qualification in IT



A minimum of 5 years’ management and technical experience in a multi-site infrastructure or similar role.

A broad understanding of Information Technology capabilities across telecommunications, systems and infrastructure

Hands on experience of the implementation of the following technologies:

    • Educational MIS; configuration, support and reporting platforms (SQL SSRS)
    • SAN’s and Virtualisation (Hyper-V & VMWare) solutions
    • Backup & Replication solutions
    • Windows Server architectures (Server 2012, Exchange 2013)
    • Remote Access Technologies (such as VPN & 2012 RDP Farm)
    • Cisco switches, routing and data centre environments


Must be able to read and write an acceptable level of English.

Must be able to present technical information in a non-technical manner.

Experience of:

  • Leading a team
  • Managing a change process in IT, including the upgrading of IT infrastructure and systems
  • Working with cutting edge technologies in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of ITIL & PRINCE2 methodologies
  • Knowledge of virtual learning environments and educational software
  • Arabic speakers are highly sought after.
